I help nurses discover more job satisfaction

from the career they dreamed of

and worked so hard to achieve.

Do you dread going in to work, the long hours,

and missing weekends and holidays with friends and family?

Do you find yourself having less empathy for patients’ long stories of chronic illness and non-compliance?

Do you daydream about work that would fulfill you… challenge you, help you use your strengths, because not much about what you’re doing looks like what you had expected from this career!

Do you wonder just how long you can last in your career as a nurse?

You never imagined you’d feel this way… you’ve got a lot invested, and you want so much more!

I can help you. You just have to be ready to learn and try.

Appreciate your important work more.

Enjoy your co-workers and respond to challenges better.

The truth is, it’s a tough career…

and a beautiful one; amazing things can happen.

It’s easier if you’re comfortable in your own skin. You can better know yourself, your values and strengths and possibilities.

You can jump-start your compassion for yourself and your patients and families. You can absolutely consider other career options, or you can learn to bloom where you’ve been planted and inspire others with your growth and increasing confidence.

Know yourself better: what you value, what your character strengths are, and a better sense of your life purpose.

Treat yourself better so that your off days aren’t just to catch up emotionally and physically.

Identify your saboteurs and learn how to respond better when you see them acting up.

See yourself as full of potential and positivity,

just as your Heavenly Father does.

Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall not hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. - John 6:35

Been there, done that, washed the scrubs!

I’m a nurse, a business owner, a life coach, mom, wife, and - most importantly - a daughter of God.

I know what it’s like to feel unfulfilled by your Nursing career, to want more from it, to want to feel knowledgeably supported (by someone who doesn’t evaluate me at work!), and to need to talk things through.

The demands on nurses are crazy. I know what it’s like to walk out after a long shift and crash the moment you get home… and maybe even stay there the next day.

I get what it feels like to have to work weekends, nights and holidays, only to walk into your home when everyone else is just starting their day. I’ve been burned out but felt it was hard to give up the money I could earn, and felt guilty about that. I’ve failed with my kids by letting them down because of my work and shifts, and I’ve put on a happy face in public more times than I can count.

I’ve been tired, out of shape, and felt weighed down from the pressure of Nursing. My spiritual faith has been challenged by seeing many, many people suffering and dying… to say nothing of their loved ones’ struggles.

After much soul-searching over the years, I realized that I could coach for exactly what I had I needed for support as a nurse. I know that sounds like a bold statement, but it’s true. In this process, I honestly fell back in love with the promise of Nursing, and I lost the physical, emotional and mental weight I was overloaded with.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

- Jeremiah 29:11

The First Year

The first year of Nursing means A LOT of learning for new nurses: your new role, new relationships to navigate, new responsibilities (including financial), and tons of new knowledge to acquire. How can you make your strengths and values help you amidst all this?

I went into Nursing at 19 because it seemed like a good idea at the time. I had no clue really what all nurses do…  I did not understand the moral and emotional tolls we take. After I graduated and went to work in a NICU, my 21-year-old friends were definitely not dealing with dying babies and their distraught parents, as I was.

Night shift was kind of fun because we had a little more autonomy and less supervision, but I also felt awful physically, as I switched from days to nights and back again in short order. I realized that I was lonely, because my friends sure weren’t doing these kinds of crazy work shifts.

For many years, I hoped that I could find a better workplace and more fulfilling work… somewhere else. But what I needed, really, was to learn to roll with the punches better wherever I was, and be true to myself - no matter what.

I needed to come to grips with things like figuring out my career goals and sustaining my motivation to work towards them, how to improve communication with a tired and difficult person higher up the food chain, how to be gentle and patient with someone who has absolutely no respect for themself…

I was getting pulled in a million directions, and I was now responsible for my growth, confidence, peace of mind, job satisfaction, and finding my way in the world.

I needed someone to help me make sense of it all. Let’s talk about me supporting you as you navigate your career.

Now, I’ve been a nurse for a very long time, and I know what qualities help nurses survive. I’ve worked in management and in Nursing education. I’ve worked in several patient care specialties, including NICU, PICU, Adult ICU, Pedi and Adult Open Heart Recovery, telephone triage, and home health and hospice.

I’ve moved to other countries to try working in another culture - and loved it. From the Arctic Circle to the deserts of Saudi Arabia, from caring for 350-gram babies to wondering if I needed to tackle a disoriented hospice patient who ran out into a busy street, I’ve seen some stuff. Now it’s time to help others in a different way.

As far as organizational culture, a healthy workplace environment and interpersonal relations, I’ve hoped the grass might be greener somewhere else - and realized it often is not.

Life’s ultimate truths lie within us; as Luke 17:20 says, “the kingdom of God is within you.”

I’ve been told I needed to be a better communicator. I’ve felt at a dead end in my career and felt invisible. I’ve neglected my health and my adorable young children because I was too fatigued to care to do differently.

But I’ve always known that our chosen career is incredibly flexible and wonderful at times.

So, I’ve worked to improve care, I’ve searched my soul, and I’ve become more outgoing, decisive, knowledgeable, and educated … and I want to help you know yourself better, to use your skills and strengths better, be confident, and enjoy your work more.

We will use the power of positive psychology and the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide our work together to honor the power of healing one’s soul. You know you deserve this.

Here’s what you can do to live your life more fully, with more joy:

Stop looking for joy in food, drink, retail therapy, fashion, a cool car.

Start looking for it within you. I’d love to help you out.

When you work with me, you will:

Know yourself better: what you value, what your character strengths are, and a better sense of your life purpose.

Treat yourself better so that your off days aren’t just to catch up emotionally and physically.

Identify your saboteurs and learn how to respond better when you see them acting up.

See yourself as full of potential and positivity, just as your Heavenly Father does.

Appreciate your important work more. Enjoy your co-workers and respond to challenges better.

Together, we will:

Have intentional, ongoing conversations about what you want to improve in your life or work, and tackle your goals together, breaking them down into achievable baby steps.

Have fun! I am authentic & warm. And I will hold you accountable. I will encourage you to think about your spiritual beliefs regarding some of your challenges.

Using positive psychology principles and exercises, incorporation of Christian values, and good old encouragement from someone who 'gets it', you can know yourself better and become more appreciative and confident of your career choice.

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs:

 What is a life coach?

A life coach is someone who can help you improve your life, feel better, and achieve your goals. It’s not a mentor, a consultant, or a counselor… although it can feel a little like it sometimes. A friend of mine called her therapist her ‘friendly nag’. That’s pretty close to what a coach is.

Because I want us to dig deep, see you be accountable, and agree that I will nudge you if you need it.

Why do I need a life coach?

Simply put, coaching helps you identify what’s going on in your own brain. When you feel unable to get the results you want or feel frustrated with your life, coaching can be the answer. A personal coach can help you recognize where you’re stuck and show you exactly what needs to change when you can’t see it yourself. A life coach is like the best friend who will call you out when you’re showing up in a way you don’t want to, give you tough love, and believe in you long before you may be able to.

They help you create the exact life you’ve always wanted.

 What will we work on?

You can be coached on absolutely anything.

Along with my education and degree from Liberty University in Human Services Counseling: Life Coaching, we will use a coaching model created by Keith Webb of Creative Results Management. This approach incorporates powerful questioning, client-generated resolutions, and spiritual considerations, resulting in a transformation for you - if you authentically engage, do the recommended exercises, and enthusiastically attend coaching sessions with me.

We’ll use SMART goal-setting to focus in on achieving some particular issues.

I am working towards accreditation as a coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), which assures clients that I have a high standard of preparation and coaching delivery, as well as many hours of practice.

When you decide to work with a life coach, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you get un-stuck and start changing your life in ways that will blow your mind. You’ll begin to understand your brain and why you’re doing what you do without beating yourself up to make any change. You’ll discover your true potential and begin to notice excellent results. It may very well change your life.

What should I expect when we work together?

You’ll be amazed at the clarity, insight, and help you can get from working through your problems on a coaching call. Whether you’re being coached directly during a private session or listening to others being coached on a Zoom group call, listening to the application of positive psychology and authentic encouragement will help you experience life-changing breakthroughs.

You can bring lots of topics to a coaching session. You may seek coaching when you are ready to overcome any obstacles you are facing, to get “un-stuck”, or to improve your life and work experiences.

What would success look like for me?

Success will be different for everyone. When we work together, we will set a goal and work towards reaching it.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

In short, therapy is working on what has happened in the past, and life coaching is working on what is currently happening and what you want to create in the future.

How long do we work together?

I offer both private coaching and group coaching.  When we meet for our consultation, we will talk about what’s happening for you, and we can discuss my 12-week Soft Skills fundamentals program or private coaching (often 2- to 6-months).

 Do you guarantee results?

No, but I do guarantee that I will provide you with everything you need to be more successful. I promise to coach you and help you understand what’s happening for you.

I’ll provide tools, teach you techniques, and show you how to make changes that will last a lifetime. The results are up to you.

Show up, get coached, and be open to learning, and you’ll likely get results you never even imagined. I suspect that you’ll find that our life coaching experience exceeds your expectations.

Can I get a refund?

No.  Once you commit and pay, your time is blocked on my calendar, and it’s for you.

If you choose not to attend sessions, that’s on you.  I’ll be there ready to coach you and show you how to get the results you are looking for.

 Can I reschedule my sessions?

Yes, I understand you could be sick or have a planned vacation.  When I send the details of what we have agreed upon, I will add a 30-day window for you to finish up any sessions you were not able to attend.

Please let me know if you have a vacation scheduled so I can use that time for another client.

Text me if you are sick and will not be on as scheduled. When I take a vacation, you will not lose any time.

 How do I pay you?

You will receive an invoice and can use a major credit card or pay via PayPal.

How can I get help in between sessions?

You can email me between sessions at christiannursecoaching@pm.me

I will respond to your email during my regular business hours.  Please keep in mind that I have other clients, so response time will not be immediate but should be within a short time.
